The VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism Starts

 

On 12 February the project “The VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism” titled “Inter-civilizational Dialogue: New Challenges” starts by the organizational support of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism. In this connection the Press Service of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism informed AZERTAC.

Since its establishment Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism has been implementing important projects related to the introduction of Azerbaijani multiculturalism to the world, its advocacy and promotion on the international arena as targeted by President Ilham Aliyev.

The international winter and summer schools of multiculturalism, which have turned into a tradition and are regularly held twice a year, are one of the significant projects of the Centre.

The VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism to be attended by the students from the foreign and local universities, where the courses “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” and “Introduction to Multiculturalism” were taught at spring and autumn semesters of 2017, will function on 12-18 February in Baku as well as in the districts of Shamakhi, Ismayilli and Gabala.

It should be noted that the project “The International Winter and Summer Schools” is the logical continuation of the project of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism “Teaching of the Course ‘Azerbaijani Multiculturalism’ in Foreign and Local Universities”. The winter and summer schools organized for the students, who study Azerbaijani multiculturalism in 17 prestigious universities of the world and 38 leading universities of Azerbaijan in the framework of the educational project at present, are aimed to create conditions for the those youth to see and witness with their own eyes what they have studied theoretically in our country where multicultural and tolerant values are maintained.

The VI International Winter School of Multiculturalism is to be attended by 23 students from the leading universities of such countries as Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Austria, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Great Britain, and Ukraine.

The participants of the winter school will be presented lectures on the multicultural state in Azerbaijan, tolerant mood, ethnic-religious diversity, peaceful co-existence of the representatives of different nations, diverse confessions.

In the course of the winter school the participants are to meet with Academician Kamal Abdulla, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism, Etibar Najafov, the Head of the Department of Interethnic Relations, Multiculturalism and Religious Issues of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mubariz Gurbanli, the Chair of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, the Chair of the Caucasian Moslems’ Office and the heads and members of the diplomatic representations in Azerbaijan.

The students are also to visit the Martyrs’ Alley and the Alley of Honors, Gobustan, Atashgah (the Temple of Fire-worshippers), Icharishahar (the Inner City), Shamakhi Observatory and Safari Park, the Nij settlement in Gabala, where the Udis live, the Albanian-Udi Christian church, the Tufandagh summer and winter resort complex for tourists, the village of Ivanovka in the district of Ismayilli where the Malakans live. As a result of the summer and winter schools of multiculturalism, which have turned into a valuable tradition already, there is a platform of interaction and strong lobby consisting of the intellectual youth in the persons of the young friends of Azerbaijan abroad and their close circles who support the righteous deed of our country. This process continuing intensively proves that the targets defined by President Ilham Aliyev at presenting Azerbaijan to the world are being successfully realized.
