The Centre of Multiculturalism Holds an Event Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in India

 

Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism has held an event dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan at Sri Sri University in India in the frames of the project of teaching the course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” abroad.

The event was attended by the President of the University Rajit Kulkarni, the Rector of the University Nanda Lal, the Head of the Department teaching the course Pratima Sarangi and students. Kanan Mammadov, who is teaching the course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” at Sri Sri University, gave profound information on the history of the establishment of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan, its activities within the short period of its existence. It was stated that back hundred years ago the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan not only declared the high democratic values, but also formed its national army, which was carrying out wide-scale democratic reforms, gave women a suffrage, and took extensive actions in education, health care and culture. K.Mammadov also spoke of the difficult state of the country on the eve of the establishment of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan, the genocide and brutalities committed against the Azerbaijanis by the Armenian dashnaks on the territory of the Republic in that period and pointed out significant marches of the Turkish Army to cleanse of our territories from them, gave information on the international relations of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan, the role of the internal and foreign factors in its collapse. It was mentioned that the present independent Republic of Azerbaijan is the successor of the People’s Republic of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the project of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism on teaching the course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” at the universities both in the country and abroad is continuing successfully. At present the course “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” is being successfully taught at 40 prestigious universities of our country and 18 leading universities abroad.

It should be reminded that the above-mentioned project was launched after the Ministry of Education had approved the programs of the courses “Introduction to Multiculturalism” and “Azerbaijani Multiculturalism” by the idea and at the initiative of the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism, Academician Kamal Abdullayev. The teaching of the courses on Azerbaijani multiculturalism abroad covers a wider geography as a result of the consistent and purposeful work carried out by Baku International Centre of Multiculturalism so that President Ilham Aliyev’s initiative to present Azerbaijan as the centre of multiculturalism in the world finds its real solution.
